This weekend brings with it the one of the most highly anticipated moments of the student archery calendar; the National Student Indoor Championships 2018.

The shoot was once again held in Nemo Rangers, a venue that a lot of us are very familiar with. As always the guys over at UCC Archery were very professional and the shoot was organised perfectly.

Saturday

The qualification was a great success with a couple of new personal bests up and down the shooting line. It's fantastic seeing all our beginners and advanced archers alike improving all the time. At the end of quailification, many of our archers left themselves in a great position for the head-to-heads on Sunday.

Sunday

On Sunday came the much anticipated Head-to-Heads.

Mark Walsh, Adam Fahey and Róisín Mooney all took home bronze in their respective categories with all three only narrowly missing out their place in the final.

The real star of the show for NUIG was newbie Michael Higgins, who swept aside the competition with ease taking home gold in his first ever Student Championships.

After the individual head-to-heads, the focus moved onto the team events. After some tense matches all three NUIG teams; Recurve, Barebow and Compound all took home silver medals.

Some work to be done but to come home as the college with the most medals is certainly a great feeling.

Massive thanks to UCC Archery for hosting another brilliant weekend and we look forward to next year.

Archery Indoor World Cup - Nimes 2018

A monumental occasion for the club as five archers compete on one of the archery worlds biggest stage!

Five of our archers compete in Nimes amoung the best in the world.

Massive thanks to the World Archery and everyone else that helped organise a brilliant competition. It truely is one of the best competitions in the world.

To have our archers hold their own amoung the best in the world gives us a lot of hope for the future as well as gives us reassurance that we're doing something right.

Huge well done to our Captain Josh Coughlan, Vice-Captain Chris Riddell, Roísín Mooney, Mark Walsh and Christopher Ryan on taking part in a competition most archers dream about.
